Plant to Palette
In the series "Plant to Palette", my objective was to establish a relatable subject matter that could be contained in a triptych format. Having worked mostly in mixed media collage for the past couple of years, it was a challenge to get back to a single medium. Working with a limited palette and generous amounts of Titanium White and Payne's Grey, I was able to mix colors to bolster a rich array of values.
From the organic form to storage to consumption, coffee, tea and wine have been popular choices for whetting the whistle. I created three triptychs depicting each stage. Flirting on the edge of abstraction, these pieces convey a strong sense of aesthetics with bold strokes of color and persuasive sweeping lines that bridge negative space with subject.
